Professional Fees
The cost of providing tax and accounting services to clients can vary significantly. Often an hourly rate is calculated based on the level of staff and time taken. This rate takes into account the overheads required in providing the professional service and includes items such as Continuing Professional Education, Professional indemnity & Liability Insurance and Software licencing i.e. tools. For example, a large trading business will require more preparation and review time than a smaller one person sole trader.
The quality of the information provided to an accountant also impacts the time taken to process a job. The preparation of financial statements for a business that has completely reconciled their accounts and activity statements and has provided information requested in a timely manner will be less costly than one where significant time is spent reconciling accounts and waiting on information.
